Do you need a resistor with a 12 volt coil. You can measure battery voltage at the coil when the circuit is open but that reading is essentially meaningless except for telling you voltage is present. This Reliance R306A is a 30-amp, 120/240-volt manual transfer switch. Reply 0 Sep 2, 2012 · Can you use a 12 volt battery to start an engine over that has a 6 volt setup. 5 days ago · The coil never sees 12v not even when the starter is engaged and the resistor is bypassed because the starter load drops the voltage a lot. 6 volt coil should have a primary resistance of something less than 2 Ohms. I think the way to sort it out for the time being is to run a wire from the bottom of the ballest resistor to a switch under the dash, then back to the + on the coil this could be turned on if it needs a 12 volt boost to start it. It'll only be about 9 volts there. Actually the car is a 6 volt. Apr 25, 2019 · Re: is a resistor needed in a 12 volt system by Les Schubert » Mon Sep 28, 2020 3:09 pm 50’s-60’s cars with 12 volts always had a resistor in the ignition circuit. If you are using electronic distrib, then a good place to take the 12 volt switched is from the old positive wire that used to go to the coil. kbqv wqpgf kmctmcl httisiyt dfw yvabkqgp xkwldrcp lagau cgyjj aubreczi
